FAQ

Is Boric Acid Safe?

Boric acid is a natural, non-toxic ingredient when used vaginally. It is important to not take this product orally. Call the Poison Control Center immediately if accidental ingestion occurs.

Why should I use Utiva Boric Acid to balance my vaginal pH?

Bacteria and yeast may get a bad rap, but they are both normal and critical for your vaginal health. The two work together to protect your reproductive system and keep a healthy pH (and balance is everything!) When the delicate vaginal ecosystem becomes out of whack, Utiva Boric Acid can help restore pH balance.

What is the difference between bacterial vaginosis and a yeast infection?

Although there may be some symptoms that resemble those of vaginal yeast infections, bacterial vaginosis (BV) has a different origin and requires a different course of therapy. Yeast infections and BV are both included in the large classification of vaginal infections known as vaginitis. These infections affect women pretty frequently. Typically, they can be adequately treated without developing any long-term issues. BV is caused by an organism that is normally present in your vagina but has grown out of control. Lactobacilli, the "good" bacteria typically outweigh anaerobes, the "bad" bacteria. When anaerobic bacteria overwhelm the normal balance of microorganisms in your vagina, bacterial vaginosis occurs.

What colour will the leakage/discharge be?

Boric acid suppositories can sometimes cause a white, chalky discharge or a slight yellowish tinge to your vaginal secretions. Don't worry, this is normal and just means that the boric acid is working its magic. It's a good idea to wear a panty liner or pad to help absorb any discharge or leakage that may occur. However, if you experience any unusual or foul-smelling discharge, it's important to contact your healthcare provider, as this could be a sign of a more serious infection.

Is it okay to use a lubricant with boric acid to aid with comfort?

While it is generally safe to use a water-based lubricant with boric acid suppositories to help with comfort, it is best to check with your health care provider before applying a lubricant while using the product.

Can boric acid interfere with barrier contraceptives like condoms, Nuvaring, or an IUD?

While there is no evidence to suggest that boric acid suppositories interfere with the effectiveness of barrier contraceptives, we don’t recommend having sexual intercourse for up to 12 hours while using the product.

Using latex condoms during a course of treatment is not recommended as it is unknown whether this product degrades the quality of latex condom. Additionally, the natural acidic component of boric acid may cause discomfort to both you and your partner and cause further irritation. We recommend consulting your doctor on this.

Can I use Utiva Yeast Control during pregnancy or while breastfeeding?

Do not use boric acid if you are pregnant or nursing. If you get pregnant while using this product discontinue use immediately.

Are there possible side effects from using Utiva Boric Acid?

The product may cause some stinging or burning if used during yeast infections or when there are small cracks in the vaginal tissue. If you are concerned, please seek medical advice.

Can Boric Acid be used by a woman while menstruating?

Boric acid capsules are safe to use while on your period, but you should not use a tampon within 24-48 hours of using boric acid; use a menstrual pad instead.

I recommend this product

I started these pills on the advice of my urologist and they certainly have helped. I found out that they could be purchased directly from the company and have been so pleased. Customer service is excellent with all the updated emails regarding notification of upcoming orders, shipment and potential date of delivery of the product. Would not buy these pills anywhere else. Excellent
